Our history
Celebrating Our Journey: ANAVETS’ Legacy of Service and Commitment
ANAVETS, founded around 1840, began as ‘The Army & Navy Veterans in Canada’ and later included Air Force members. Since 1917, it unites armed forces for fellowship, patriotism, and public influence, maintaining clubs, homes, and museums for veterans’ welfare. ANAVETS’ history reflects Canada’s commitment to its veterans.
Organization & Management
Organizational Structure and Governance: Directing Policy and Administration within ANAVETS
ANAVETS includes a Dominion Command and seven provincial commands, with units in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Mexico, and a United States unit (ANAVICUS) affiliated with the American Legion. Executive Officers and Provincial Command Presidents constitute the Board of Directors, setting policy and administration, subject to biennial ratification by the Association members in Convention.
